{"id":5494,"date":"2023-10-06T05:23:41","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:23:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/torontospringcampingrvshow.com\/?p=5494"},"modified":"2023-10-06T10:51:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T14:51:42","slug":"thanksgiving-2023-in-your-rv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/torontospringcampingrvshow.com\/thanksgiving-2023-in-your-rv\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving 2023 in Your RV!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">It&#8217;s that time of year again and we hope you are enjoying Thanksgiving in your RV!\u00a0 Back by popular demand, here are the directions to roast your Thanksgiving Turkey at the campsite!<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Campfire Roasted Thanksgiving Turkey<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Ingredients:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n12 pound Turkey<br \/>\nOlive Oil<br \/>\nSalt<br \/>\nBlack Pepper<br \/>\nTurkey Seasonings (thyme, sage, garlic, onion)<br \/>\nCheesecloth, Aluminum Foil<\/p>\n<p>Start the campfire with hardwood logs like oak, hickory or hard maple.\u00a0 Let it burn for at least one hour to develop a large supply of glowing coals.\u00a0 Make sure the turkey is completely thawed.\u00a0 Rub oil thoroughly on the exterior and interior of turkey.\u00a0 Sprinkle liberally with salt, pepper and other seasonings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">While the campfire is burning to coals, dig a hole six inches larger than the turkey all the way around.\u00a0 Wrap the oiled, seasoned turkey generously with cheesecloth, then with four layers of aluminum foil sealing as tightly as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Rake or shovel two inches of coals into the bottom of the pit.\u00a0 Place the turkey on top of them.\u00a0 Fill the space around the turkey with coals to about two inches above the bird, then top off the pit with earth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Time three hours then remove the soil and ash on top of the package.\u00a0 Insert the probe of the thermometer through the foil and cheesecloth to check the internal temperature of the breast.\u00a0 Make sure it&#8217;s at least 165F, then carefully remove from pit and set aside for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Open pack and begin carving!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5496 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/torontospringcampingrvshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fall-camping-family-image-400x300-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/torontospringcampingrvshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fall-camping-family-image-400x300-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/torontospringcampingrvshow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/fall-camping-family-image-400x300-1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 218px) 100vw, 218px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s that time of year again and we hope you are enjoying Thanksgiving in your RV!\u00a0 Back by popular demand, here are the directions to roast your Thanksgiving Turkey at the campsite!
